1886 Seated Liberty Dime, Finest Known – NGC PR68CAM
First off, let me start by saying Happy Halloween to everyone!
Today’s coin is scary gorgeous: It’s one of the two finest known from a mintage of only 886, and with stunning toning to boot. This is the 1886 Seated Liberty Dime, in NGC Proof 68 CAM.
The attractiveness of toning is in the eye of the beholder, but I don’t think anyone will disagree with me when I say this is coin has amazing color. I love this little dime dearly — this is as close to perfection as it gets.
And because it’s Halloween, I couldn’t resist showing off a fun coin — “The Barber”.
Part of the “ZomBucks” series dubbing itself the currency of the apocalypse, there are 5 or 6 rounds out so far that take our classic designs like Mr. Barber there, and … well, zombify them. The description on the box reads: Charles E. Barber’s Lady Liberty design has become ravaged, with rancid flesh and scissors piercing her eye. She joins the hordes of undead as the latest victim of the zombie apocalypse. From elegant to eerie, the goddess is now The Barber.”
Happy Halloween Weekend!!
