The End Of An Era

There’s no good way to say this, so I’m just going to blurt it out rather like I did to my family and friends:  A golden opportunity was dropped in my lap all wrapped up with a pretty bow. I’ve accepted a job offer in the East Bay (San Francisco) area, and I’m leaving Los Angeles, the Alhambra Coin Center — and coins.

I’ve absolutely loved my time in numismatics, and I’ll always have a special place in my heart for coins.  I’ve made life long friends, and learned invaluable lessons in our little microcosm.  This is a very bitter-sweet time … It’s the end of an era, but I’m exciting to see what new opportunities and adventures lay ahead of me.

It’s been a pleasure to share my passion for coins with everyone, and I’d like to thank everyone once again for the support and encouragement.

Good bye, fellow coin nerds!  It’s been a privilege.

  • Farewell Amanda, parting is such sweet sorrow! It has been an honor and a privilege to meet you, the coin world is losing a great person, our chat boards & coin shows shall be bleaker for it. But go forth and let your light shine brightly in all other endeavors, we will be here for when numismatics pulls you back. Best of fortune in all things, Ryan (travlntiques)

  • All the best in your new job, Amanda! Thanks to your assistance, I recently acquired what will likely forever remain the centerpiece of my entire coin collection. The experience was nothing but positive and you were very professional. I will continue to check Alhambra’s inventory from time to time.

  • Best of luck Amanda, in whatever it is you choose to do. I know you’ll be back one day.

  • So that’s what happened to you , Amanda. No wonder its been so dark in the Coin Nerd Universe – one of our brightest rays of sunshine got repositioned into a place of life. Too bad you had to be in our dark cave but good for you to have been so privileged , to have moved on. Your presence was noticed . Hope your new life is better. Its got to be. The World of Coins is no place for a bubbly young Woman to waste her days.
